2010 – 2011 YTD State of the Club
September 21, 2010
Foundation:
• Goal: $150 Average contribution per Member = $9,450. - YTD contribution $3,090 (33%)
• Polio Plus Goal: $2,000. Raising money with 4 Club collaboration at Reno Rodeo, Air Races, Aces BBall
• One Member – Tim Ruffin achieve Major Donor Status in 2010.
• Drive to add new PHF Members by matching their contributions (with Club points) to help get 1st PHF.
Service Projects:
• Crab Feed Fundraiser Results - $60,000 Net Income to Club to use for 2010 – 2011 Service Projects.
o Challenge to the Club: Let's find a BIG Project to get behind this year. Both Time & Money.
• New Generations – Youth Services.
o Outbound Student – Donner Kahl (Son of Club Member Suzi Kahl)
o Inbound Student – Martin Pavlov
o Club is Sponsoring a New Interact Club at Reno High – Suzy Kahl is the driver behind this.
o $10,000 in Scholarships paid out. Added $30,000 seed money to our Scholarship Foundation.
o Committee is actively promoting the Clubs Youth Programs to Wooster & Hug HS Students.
• International Service Projects:
o El Salvador: Donated $1,000 for Emergency Supplies after the November 2009 Tsunami. Also donated $1,000 for Bilirubin Light Meters for diagnosing Jaundice in infants.
o Costa Rica: Partnering with Corona Club on Ultrasound Machine for Health Facility.
o Guatemala: Water Filter Project. Red Badge Club Member Andrea Castro went to help distribute.
o Thailand: Partner with Reno Club on Computers for Schools and potentially a water project.
o The Committee seeks to work closely with local RI Clubs and maximize Grant opportunities.
• Community Services Projects:
o Three At-Risk Schools identified to donate $5,000 each for equipment and events.
o Thanksgiving Luncheon planned for area Senior Citizens.
o Considering a Dental Health Screening Day for At Risk Kids in collaboration with Dental Foundation.
• Vocational Service:
o Vocational Service Award granted to Hector Medellin.
o Vocational Service Talks given every week by established Club Members.
• Charitable Contributions:
o $8,000 to Echo Loder Elementary for School Uniforms.
o $10,000 to Boys & Girls Club of Truckee Meadows.
o $1,000 to Junior Achievement for classroom supplies.
• Club Service Events:
o Club Assembly held 1st meeting.
o Facebook established. Website updated, and a weekly email summary of coming events sent.
o Family Picnic in July
o Golf Outing, Christmas Party, and Lunch with the Prez for newer members scheduled.
• Club Survey taken early in the year to get feedback on direction of the Club.
